The Road to Recovery

Cody has been sober now since early September of last year. For me it seems like its taken an eternity just to get to this point. However, when I compare the behaviors that existed before and where we are today as a family, there has been a marked change, for the better.

I realize that recovery requires patience and persistance. You get there one step at a time; sometimes even stepping backwards, but always striving to move forward.

Yesterday, Cody got the message that he will move up to the next phase of his recovery program. At the same time he has finished his 4th step, and plans on completing his 5th by next week. He has a childhood friend visiting this week, while he is on spring break.

To hold until full is not as good as stopping.
An oversharpened sword cannot last long.
A room filled with gold and jewels cannot be protected.
Boasting of wealth and virtue brings your demise.
After finishing the work, withdraw.

This is the Way of Heaven.

Very well done. I know from our experience, you can not have enough feedback and discussions. It is difficult at best and the inclination is to assign blame.

I know that it is still ongoing, but you now have so many positive things to share as well. Maybe you could post a few of his shining moments and successes. Also, this should be linked to a few of the programs similar to what Cody has been through.

He is an excellent example of what good can come from the process coupled with the support of a family that is relentless in seeing this challenge through to the end.

Thank you or your kind words of support. I will take your words to heart and report more as the time comes. Cody is doing very well and we are so proud of him.
Thanks again
